The County Court and District Court of Polk County is located on the third floor of the Courthouse. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is closed from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. for lunch

General Information
All District Courts and County Courts in the State of Nebraska are organized into 12 judicial districts to serve all 93 counties.
Polk County is in the 5th Judicial District, which also includes Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Saunders, Seward and York.
Although the District Court has concurrent jurisdiction with County Courts, they primarily hear all felony criminal cases, equity cases, domestic relations cases and civil cases involving more than $57,000. The District Court also functions as an Appellate Court in deciding appeals from County Court and various administrative agencies.
County Court primarily hears misdemeanor criminal cases including traffic, municipal ordinance violations and preliminary hearings on felony criminal cases; civil cases less than $57,000; small claims cases up to $6,000; probate/estate cases; inheritance tax determinations; guardianship and conservatorship cases; adoption cases; juvenile matters and condemnation/eminent domain cases.
